So, let me ask you a question. Do you do the things that you love to do? Do you even know what you love to do? How long has it been since you felt excitement in your heart and fed by your passions? Notice I used the word “fed”. Yes, our passions feed us in ways that food cannot. In fact, I would venture to say that many of us stuff our passions and then stuff ourselves with food to numb the pain denying ourselves causes us.
When you are living in your passion, a strange thing happens. Food loses its control! You actually want to exercise so that you can be the best at what you love! Being fed by our passions brings health and wellness!
This week I got to visit Greenfield Village. Henry Ford, a man who lived in his passions, decided that he would build a village based on people who inspired him. With his fortunes, he situated Edison’s laboratory and the Wright brother’s homes inside this village in Detroit.
This is a very inspirational place, to say the least! But, for me, learning more about the Wright brothers was definitely the highlight. Here were two brothers with less than a high school education, who decided they wanted to defy the current physical understandings of the universe! What made them think they could do it? Who the heck were they? Well, they were so confident in themselves that they were willing to risk life and limb!
After years of tinkering, calculating, dreaming, and living in their passions, they finally had success in December 1903. After a flip of a coin, Orville got to test out their flying machine first. And, for 12 whole seconds he did what no other man had ever done. Can you imagine what that would feel like? What he thought? What an amazing 12 seconds!

Me on the Wright brother's back porch wondering what they thought of when they stood in the same place!
Wilbur and Orvill had many obstacles to overcome. What’s stopping you? Fear?
I’m trying to practice what I preach! Today, I played a gig on a rooftop! Who gets to do that? U2? The Beatles? I couldn’t miss out on that kind of opportunity! Here’s the deal – I’m terrified of heights!!!! And, to get up there, you had to climb up a very tall, very wobbly ladder. Then I had to get back down. But, HELLO! How cool?! I absolutely had to do it! Fear of heights is not a fear I’ve been able to beat in the past. But, you know what? Today I did! And, it was awesome!
I need to let you in on a secret here – We need you!!! We need you to be yourself!!!! What is the world missiing out on because you are not living out your passions? What are YOU missing out on?
